It gets by since there is so little else available. It doesn't have great sound but adequate, I use it as a tuner. It changes channel if signal drops too far. It is portable only to the extent of the length of your extension cord. It looks like a portable but be aware that it is not. You can't find them anymore except on ebay. My Sony tuners did not change channel, had better sound and overall were a much better product than any of my Radiosophy-s but they died of heat as well, probably all the caps dried up. It had a few drawbacks that the present model under discussion did not over come well if at all.a small screen and when the reception dipped below a certain point the channel reverted back to 88.7-1 from 88.7-2. The tuner stayed on most of the time and worked well until the day it didn't, and then it didn't work at all. I used the tuner in my stereo and never used the dock. I dont remember the model number but it was the one that had a "docking port" - the tuner sat in a housing that contained the amp and speakers. When I finally got one I was very excited. I remember waiting for some time for Radiosophy products to become available.
